We're a real shop, in Tokyo, run by real people.
Tokyo Nihonto was founded in 2023 by Logan, a French collector based in Tokyo, Japan. Today, we're a team of three based in Japan, with strong relationships across the Japanese sword world — artisans, dealers, polishers, and private collectors.
We are not a dropshipper. We are not a middleman. We do everything ourselves: research, analysis, selection, sourcing, purchasing, photography, documentation. Every sword you see on this site has been through our hands in Tokyo before it reaches yours. That's how we build the best catalog at the best price.
What makes us different
- Based in Tokyo — We operate from Japan, where the swords are. Direct access to the best pieces, no intermediaries, and we handle the entire export process ourselves.
- Every sword is real — We only sell authentic nihonto (traditionally forged Japanese swords). No replicas, no Chinese copies, no mass-produced blades. Ever.
- Registered blades — Every sword we sell is legally registered with the Japanese government (torokusho). The registration card stays in Japan as required by law, but we provide all documentation and certificates that come with the sword.
- We handle everything — From the Japanese export permit to international shipping, customs documentation to insurance. You buy, we do the rest.
- Real photos — Every photo on a product page is the actual sword you will receive. No stock images.
