USA SHIPPING ⚠️ From 9 oct. 2025

Order, Japan Post (EMS) has temporarily suspended all commercial deliveries to the United States.

As a result, we are now shipping through alternative private carriers. Unfortunately, these services are considerably more expensive. Therefore, we kindly ask our U.S. customers to contribute a portion of the shipping cost — $200 per order.

Please note that delivery times will also be longer, as we must obtain a custom shipping quote from the carrier for each sword. We currently estimate a 3–4 month delivery window.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support during this time.

This Japanese katana is an unsigned (mumei) blade that has been suriage, indicating careful shortening carried out historically to adapt the sword for continued use. The blade measures 65.4 cm in nagasa with a graceful 1.7 cm sori, giving it a well-balanced and practical profile.

The sugata is elegant and slender, with smooth taper from the motohaba to the kissaki. The blade feels light and responsive in hand, with a blade weight of only 672 g, making it especially suitable as a iaitō-style handling sword while remaining a genuine steel blade.

The hamon, as seen in the photographs, appears as a calm and refined suguha-based pattern with subtle undulation and a soft, even nioiguchi. The overall appearance emphasizes control and elegance rather than flamboyance. The steel surface shows a fine, subdued jihada consistent with functional, well-forged blades.

The kissaki is cleanly formed with a smooth transition and well-defined geometry, contributing to the sword’s balanced and composed appearance.

Koshirae Details

The katana is mounted in a complete and cohesive koshirae. The tsuka is wrapped in deep blue ito over natural samegawa, offering a classic and dignified appearance as well as a secure grip.

The menuki depict traditional animal motifs, likely shishi (guardian lions), rendered in a warm-toned metal that contrasts attractively with the blue tsuka-ito and white samegawa.

The tsuba is a simple yet characterful iron sukashi tsuba of round form. Its openwork design and aged patina give it a quiet, utilitarian beauty consistent with practical sword fittings rather than decorative excess.

The saya is finished in a restrained, traditional style, complementing the overall sober and functional character of the mounting. Fully assembled, the sword weighs approximately 869 g, remaining comfortable and well-balanced.

Overall Impression

A well-proportioned and understated mumei suriage katana, mounted in a practical and tasteful koshirae. With its calm suguha-style hamon, light handling, and classic iron sukashi tsuba, this sword is particularly suitable for practitioners of iaidō or collectors who appreciate functional elegance and honest craftsmanship.
